Almost everyone I know are "pet people". Most of them have multiple pets. I originally started out with one dog. My first cat was a "gift" from an ex mother-in-law, which is the only good thing she gave me. After that, I have been owned by four others. Each of these came to me. I never had to go to a shelter. They were all males -- just the luck of the draw. Actually, at one point I was living in a garden apartment and the cat I had at that time was sitting on a window sill, talking to the prospective tenant, telling him what a good deal it was. "She screams a lot, but it doesn't mean anything. It's a good place to live". This was a little grey tiger cat with a very sweet disposition. I had my female Shepherd at that time who was not a "pussy cat". When I opened the door he walked right past her and made himself at home. He was with me for eighteen years. My next was a Morris who is now nineteen years old and still doing quite well. In the interim, I have had two Doberman and right now my young girl is over four years old. They give me so much pleasure. There are people, I know, who claim there is work attached, responsibility, and who generally do not care for our furry friends, but for most of us who do, anything involved in pet ownership is because we care so and is a labor of love.
