Bandhavgarh National Park
Madhya Pradesh is a haven for floral and faunal diversity. Its National Park are Tiger- Lovers and bird watchers paradise. An India Journey takes you on a pleasure trip to four of its national park.
Who dares a close brush with tiger must come to Bandhavgarh. Chances are highest here that you will catch a close glimpse of the stripped big cat on prowl during jeep or elephant safari. Sized at about 105 sq km in Umaria deistic of Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is not big. It is Known to have the highest density of tiger, an endangered species. Bandhavgarh’s fauna is an electic mix of tiger, panther, wild buffalo, chital (Spotted deer) , Sambhar, nilgai , Chausingha, chinkara, barking deer, black buck and deer.
People associate Bandhavgarh with white tigers although none of that species has been sighted in last fifty years. White tigers perhaps roamed this forest when it was part of rewa, a princely state. At the centre of the park there stands a hillock, called Bandhavgarh hill, which is topped by a fort. The fort is assumed to be 2000 years old. Bandhavgarh no doubt came under the Maurya dynasty in that antiquity. There are 39 caves have in and around the fort.
Kanha National Park
Established in 1955, Kanha National Park sprawls an enormous 940 sq km across Mandala and Balaghat districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Tiger is the king of kanha, Only there are too many of them. Of other carnivorous beats there are leopard, sloth bear, Indian wild dog and rare Indian wolf. The food cycle is supported by a huge population of herbivores by a huge population of herbivores like chital, sambhar, barasingha, golden jackle, Bengal fox, honey badger and India gray mongoose.
